Care2 and NOAA Promote International Year of the Reef 2008

Just added to our ever-growing Care2 in the News section is a great piece by Inside CRM highlighting Care2's partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) as an effective way for government and social media to team up for a cause.

From the article:

"For example, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency) partnered with Care2,
an activist social network of over 8 million Americans, to promote
awareness of the deterioration of coral reefs. The idea was that the
federal agency would work with Care2 to build support for the
International Year of the Reef 2008. This contemporary public-private
partnership gives NOAA access to 8 million targeted activists who can
work with the government for common objectives. If it progresses well,
it will go a long way toward restoring faith in the institutions of
government."

We tend to agree! A special thanks to Eric Rardin and Robyn Erler of Care2 and Maria Barry from the NOAA who were instrumental in establishing and evangelizing the partnership.
