New Tool Lets Nonprofits Send Action Alerts Through Facebook

Grassroots Enterprise recently launched “Actions” on Facebook that allows nonprofit organizations' supporters to take action and send a letter to their members of Congress without ever leaving Facebook —and without installing an app. The Actions tab will not only match supporters to federal and state legislative officials based on their addresses but will also capture names and emails in a database. Nonprofits also have the ability to:

  • Enable Tell-A-Facebook Friend functionality
  • Use a unique URL for the "Take Action" tab, linkable in status updates and emails
  • Promote numerous actions via an Action Center page
  • Add a prominent "Take Action" tab to your organization's Facebook pages

Check out the screenshot of the "Confirming Sonia Sotomayor as a Supreme Court Justice" action below. This new tool offers nonprofits loads of potential to mobilize activists and supporters through social networks.
