LinkedIn Launches Volunteer and Causes Profiles

I love to see social networks carve out space to promote nonprofits, causes, and volunteering. Facebook integrates with Causes. Twitter has Hope140. And now LinkedIn, which has over 120 million members in over 200 countries and territories, has added a Volunteer and Causes section to users profiles. This is a great opportunity for your organization’s supporters to help promote your mission on LinkedIn by having them share their volunteer experiences and support with their professional networks.

LinkedIn says that these new profile features focused on nonprofits will benefit organizations in three ways.

1. Make it easy for your supporters to be your evangelists. Once they add their volunteer experiences, their network is notified and it becomes a permanent part of their profile.

2. Make it easy to find your supporters and learn who else they may be connected to. Use the advanced search functionality to find everyone on the network who has ever volunteered with your organization - and get back in touch with them.

3. Get insights into the professional skills and experiences of your supporters.

Claim Your Nonprofit's Page
Don’t forget to take advantage of LinkedIn’s “company pages” by claiming your organizations page. Here’s how it works.

First, search for your nonprofit’s name here.  If it’s already in the LinkedIn database, then you will be prompted to claim it if no one else in your organization has completed this step.

If you don’t see your organization listed, you can add it and claim the profile here

There are already over 120K nonprofit profiles on LinkedIn. Make sure you have some presence on this social network too.
