Sustainatopia: A Bootcamp to Help Nonprofits Build Stronger Movements

Written by Allyson Kapin | 2011/3/30

As nonprofit campaigners, it’s our job to help mobilize supporters and move the needle to create real impact. But sometimes we rely on the same old strategies that every other group uses and the needle stops moving. If you are looking for some new ideas and strategies to ramp up your outreach, social media, or to recruit more donors and volunteers check out Sustainatopia in Miami next week on April 4th! Sustainatopia will be hosted by digital strategists Sloane Berrent and JD Lasica.

This special 3-hour workshop/bootcamp will dive deeply into strategy, tactics and tools available to social entrepreneurs and nonprofit change agents. Sustainatopia will rev up with the second annual Social Venture Capital/Social Enterprise Conference (SVC/SE – Miami).

When: Monday, April 4, from 9 am to noon, before the conference’s opening session

Where: Miami Beach Convention Center, room B210

Who should attend:

• Social enterprise executives, managers & aspiring entrepreneurs

• Representatives of nonprofits, foundations and NGOs

• Change agents and representatives of social cause organizations

• VCs, investors and philanthropists

• Political reformers, journalists and educators

• Community managers and government workers

• Activists, advocates and those who want to make the world a better place

Also, anyone who will be anywhere near the Miami Beach Convention Center that same Monday (April 4th) also might want to check out the Sustainatopia conference panel “Media Trends and Marketing Movements” from 2:20 pm to 3:20 pm at which Care2’s very own Clint O’Brien will be presenting, talking about social ventures in the media space. On the same panel will be social media expert and blogger JD Lasica of SocialBrite.org, and Nick Aster, founder and publisher of TriplePundit.com, as well as Tamara Straus, publisher of the Stanford Social Innovation Review.  Clint’s happy to meet up with any Frogloop readers who will be attending.
