Trócaire wants the Irish Government to divest its existing investments from fossil fuel companies, prohibit future investments in fossil fuel companies, and develop a 100% renewables investment policy for the fund’s future energy investments.
To reach those goals, Trócaire needed to publicly put pressure on the government and obtain thousands of signatures in support.
Trócaire and Care2 created two petitions aimed at the Irish Government and several ministers.
The first campaign collected 4,804 signatures. An incredible 90% of Care2 members who signed the petition opted to join Trócaire's list.
The second stage of the campaign collected 3,616 signatures. 72% of Care2 members who signed the petition opted to join Trócaire's list.
