How Proactive List-Building Prepared Habitat for Horses for an Emergency

HfHlogo.png

When Hurricane Harvey struck, hundreds of horses were left behind as their owners fled to safety.

Habitat for Horses needed to act quickly to rescue and rehabilitate stranded equine from flooded areas, including from the organization’s own ranch in Texas.

Habitat for Horses spent much of 2016 and 2017 growing the size of its email list with new supporters recruited on Care2. Prior to working with Care2, the organization had a very small email file.

Because Habitat for Horses was proactive in recruiting new supporters, it was ready for disaster. The organization made emergency donation appeals, and Care2 members responded with overwhelming support.
