Mobile Devices Driving Major Traffic to Social Networks
The world is becoming a lot more mobile – particularly when it comes to people using certain social networks. This week the Real Time Report said that mobile devices drive more than half of traffic to Twitter and Pandora. Interestingly that is not the case with Facebook. Only 1/3 of their traffic comes from mobile devices.
I think part of the reason that mobile traffic is much lower on Facebook is because they are trying to become the king of social networks. All the expanded functionality that they have built and included in the mobile app is clunky and buggy which makes for a frustrating user experience at times. More focused and streamlined social networks like Twitter have an easier time adapting their social network to a mobile platform.
Apple Users Are More Generous than PC and Android Users
Razoo, a popular online social fundraising platform did a study measuring donation habits of Apple, PC, and Android users. Their research showed that Mac users are more generous than PC users. iPad users gave 40% more per donation than any other mobile device user, Every iOS device gave more than Android or Blackberry.
Average donation value by mobile device:
- iPad $168.67
- iPhone $102.80
- Android $91.42
- Blackberry $24
- Windows $18.75
Average donation by browser:
- Safari $134.77
- Internet Explorer $122.11
- Chrome $113.00
- Firefox $111.34
