Care2.com's Social Networking Platform Connects Activists

A Message to Care2's Neal Gorenflo from a Care2 Activist about how social networking led to collaborative action, and an example of the engaged citizens that Care2 attracts to its community (posted with permission):

"Neal,
...You may want to check out WhaleCall, Inc as that is International in Scope http://www.whalecall.org.  We are on the ground and virtual activists from across the continents that met in Care2, brainstormed and formed a charity in Australia where our founder and 3 board members live. We meet in Whale Sense, and have a public persona in Whale Call Cafe.  There we have created anti-whaling petitions, Protests on Japanese Embassies, rallies etc.

Also, I am rather proud to be the originator of one of the first Virtual Marching Places on the Net ~ yes, before the "March on Washington" ~ I sent that info to your PR department ;).  Please check out http://www.care2.com/c2c/group/VirtualAction. It was started to create a place for the over hundreds of thousands people with invisible illnesses that are too ill to march, rally or protest in person. Many people have linked to our information especially those in the USA and UK.

I just wanted you to know how much Care2 has enriched the life of myself and others."
