Now that we’re well into spring season, it’s the perfect time to participate in National Bike to Work Week, with National Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 19th! Communities all across the US will be organizing events to celebrate bicycling as a preferred commuting option and encourage new cyclists to join in on the fun. Here in Washington, DC where I regularly bike to work, there will be over 85 Bike to Work Day pit stops throughout DC, Virginia and Maryland where cyclists can get food and beverages, and even enter prize raffles.

Conference to Inspire and Mobilize Thousands of Volunteers

Next week, the Care2 Team will join more than 5,000 passionate volunteers in Washington, D.C. for the Points of Light National Conference on Volunteering and Service.  Leaders and volunteers from the nonprofit, corporate and government sectors will gather in over 150 workshops to exchange ideas and inspire one another on topic areas including National Service, Nonprofit Capacity Building, Volunteer Management and Youth Service and Leadership.

From the Floor: Creating Change for the LGBT community

Creating Change is the premier annual organizing and skills-building event for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender community and their allies.  The conference is run by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and attracts more than 2,500 people from all over the country.  Presenters and participants come from all walks of life, including members of the business community, elected officials, students, faith leaders, and staff and volunteers of nonprofit organizations.  Exhibiting with Care2 are organizations like GLSEN, The Human Rights Campaign, SAGE, The Trevor Project, The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, Immigration Equality, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America.  The response by conference attendees to Care2's presence has been overwhelming.
